CLIA waived drug test kit is a device used to detect drug presence easily and accurately. It can be used for both laboratory and non-laboratory testes. CLIA waived drug test kit is mostly used by the hospitals and physicians. CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment Act) is a set of laws that govern the laboratory testing system operating around United States.
CLIA establishes quality standard for drug testing in laboratories:CLIA establishes the quality standards for laboratories. It ensures accuracy, reliability and timeliness among the testing results. The main objective of CLIA is to provide quality laboratory testing results. Though CLIA waived drug testing kits are most commonly used in hospitals, they can be used at home or any other place, as they are simple and easy to use. And have a very less chance of an error.
Testing methods:There are two methods of testing, they are, CLIA Waived drug test and non-waived drug test.• Waived drug tests are cheap because they don’t require extensive paper work like preparing the details of donor and test methodology. These are accurate and easy drug detectors and are mostly used to conduct the preliminary test. When the test sample (blood, urine, hair etc) is found positive in the waived drug test, then it is further tested through non-waived drug test.• Non-waived drug test is an expensive test. This test requires extensive paper work. As it is costlier test, it is only conducted when the sample is confirmed positive in the waived drug test. For any kind of non-waived testing methods, the sample that has been collected for a drug test should meet up with legal needs and get certified by the reliable sample collectors.
Suitable for both laboratory and non-laboratory test:Performing test through CLIA waived drug testing kit is very simple. It is suitable for both laboratory and non-laboratory drug tests. Non-laboratory drug testes are performed by the trained care personnel at hospitals, labs, treatment centers, prisons, work place etc, for instant and accurate results.
CLIA waived drug testing kit ensures that the specimen collected for the laboratory test is tested accurately and in a timely manner. This information will be helpful to you in knowing about the CLIA waived drug testing kit.

Drug testing is different from the drug screening test. A drug screening test is a rapid diagnostic test, which gives qualitative results regarding the presence or absence of the drug. These tests can even detect nicotine, alcohol, caffeine and many more commonly used drugs. There is no need to fast or to follow any special dietary restrictions before going for any drug screening test.Immunoassay and chromatographyImmunoassays are used world wide for the rapid screening of drugs and recommended as useful tool for screening. Immunoassays works on the principle of antigen-antibody interaction and Chromatography is based on subjective judgment of a technician.The analysis of confirmation with conclusive methods (GC-MS or chromatography) is inevitable for the valid identification of substance, the detection of the congeners, and the precise determination of the concentrations in the body liquids. Though these are highly valuable tools for testing illicit drugs, there is a real risk of false-positive and false-negative findings when tests are used by non-professionals.SensitivitySensitivity in drug testing means the probability of a positive test result for a drug abuse suspect. Sensitivity test tracks the efficacy of drug treatments based on the impact on functioning of different body organs. It can be used as a tool to help in determining whether a treatment with a particular drug should be continued, modified or stopped. It also checks for any subtle changes in the vision, which is resulted from any therapy.SpecificityProbability of a negative result in the drug test for any suspect who does not abuse drugs is referred as specificity. Each testing method has sensitivity, specificity, reproducibility and reliability of results for regulatory or approval results. The accuracy of drug testing reflects both chemical factors, which influences test results such as sensitivity and specificity and as well as pharmacological considerations like drug dose, times of drug use etc.For measuring the level of drugs in the body the immunoassay and chromatography can be adapted. Screening assays are less expensive and less labor intensive than sensitivity and specificity. The above information helps the individuals who want to go for the simple and easy process of drug screening test.

Drug abuse is the use of illicit drugs, or the abuse of prescription or over-the-counter drugs. The abuse of legitimate drugs can be done by using the drugs in a manner or in quantities other than directed, or for purposes other than legitimate purposes.
There are a lot of misconceptions about Drug abuse and it’s Dangers:
· Drug abuse is harmful, but it relieves you of stress: Drug Abuse affects your brain in the same way stress does. Long-term usage of drugs makes users more prone to everyday stress compared to Non-users.
· As soon as a person feels normal, drug is out of the body: Long after effects of the drug stop are felt, the drug can still be in the body. For example, cocaine can be found in the body up to one week and marijuana up to four weeks after a single use.
· One can stop using drugs any time: Withdrawal sickness, believing you must have drugs, and being around people who use can make stopping drug use difficult. But there are people and programs that can help.
· You will have to use drugs for a long time before it really hurts you: Drugs can cause the brain to send the wrong signals to the body. This can happen the first time a drug is used.
Education and outreach are becoming major parts of establishing a more effective program for preventing drug abuse at schools, workplaces or at your home. Drug abuse has been associated with a wide range of adverse side effects ranging from some that are physically unattractive, Most are reversible if the abuser stops taking the drugs, but some are permanent. Presenting the risks of Drug use is more effective in convincing adolescents about its negative effects, apparently because the people find a balanced approach more credible and less biased. A good way to begin dealing with a drug abuse problem is to give employees the resources to control their environment and claim ownership of the policy on no drug abuse. A good way to deal with a drug abuse problem is to give people the resources to control their environment.
Drug abuse also damages America’s competitive position worldwide. Our nation’s businesses are competing overseas where the competition has a much lower incidence of drug abuse. The United States has only six percent of the world’s population, but consumes 60 percent of the world’s illegal drug supply is moving into the home.

A drug test is commonly a technical examination to determine the presence or absence of specified drugs or their metabolized traces. According to the Chicago land Chamber of Commerce, “Over 70% of all illicit drug users are employed. Small and medium-sized firms employ 80% of the U.S. workforce where drug testing policies & programs are not in place. Absenteeism, increased health care costs and decreased productivity due to alcohol and other substance abuse cost a company $1,000 per employee per year.” It gives the importance of drug testing at work place.
Primarily there are five methods of drug testing. Those are
. Urine drug testing: Urine drug test is the most common, inexpensive, simple and easy to administer. Urine drug tests are reliable and can be tested individually and at other places.
. Blood drug testing: Blood testing is one of the most accurate drug testing but intrusive and expensive.
. Hair drug testing: When used in right time hair testing gives more accurate results and it is most expensive drug testing.
. Saliva drug testing: Oral drug testing is the simplest form of drug testing, which is increasingly used, as it is the least intrusive test procedure.
. Sweat drug testing: Sweat tests are patches attached to the skin to collect sweat over a long period of time (10–14 days).
Drug testing, and particularly random drug testing is not allowed in every state in the United States. There are certain guidelines mentioned by The Federal Drug-Free Work Place Act of 1988. Following guidelines give the minimum requirements.
. Publish a policy statement prohibiting unlawful use, possession, manufacture, or distribution of controlled substances in the workplace;
. Notify employees of said prohibition and the penalty for violating it;
. Establish a drug-free awareness program;
. Provide employees engaged in a contract with a copy of the policy statement;
. Notify employees that compliance with the policy statement is a condition of employment;
. Require (in writing in your policy) employees to notify the employer within five
. Days if they are convicted of a criminal drug statute violation occurring in the workplace;
. Make a good-faith effort to maintain a drug-free workplace through these provisions.
In 2004 SAMHSA proposed a new rule that would allow federal agencies to use sweat, saliva and hair in federal drug testing programs that now only test urine. The proposal would also allow selected specimen testing at the time and place it is collected.
Drug testing has an important role in safety-critical and other occupations where the public is entitled to expect the highest standards of safety and probity. In order to make the workforce free from drug use at work places several new methods are in line under the rules proposed by SAMHSA that are unintrusive, inescapable and yield accurate results.

Drug Testing is usually planned to check for substances that could either provide an unfair advantage over those who do not use them or contribute to problems in the individual’s life, including impaired performance. Some people would like to remain anonymous, so they were hesitant to go for drug tests to any laboratory or consultant. They use some home drug testing kits. Drug testing at home makes it personal and private. Home Drug Testing is helpful for those who hesitate to take these drug tests explicitly and also for parents to identify drug abuse in their children.
Advantages:
The benefits of in home testing are:
· Timely- Instant testing and confirmation eliminates delays up to 3 to 4 days in waiting for laboratory results.
· Cost Effective – Small fraction of full laboratory testing fee. Initial qualitative screening results for positive drug or drug metabolite confirmations provided for in cost effective manner.
· Rapid Confirmation- Decreased stress caused by waiting for results.
· Ease of Use – Simple test procedure using subject’s urine. Compact self-contained test, no peripherals and special equipment or training necessary.
· Accuracy up to 99%- Built in quality controls and variances provide the most accurate results for a one-step test possible. Minimizes false positives through user error.
· Visual Display- Easy to read results eliminate misreading or need for examiner interpretation.
Applications :
· Random Drug Screening of Employees.
· Pre-employment screening.
· Job Applicants making sure to “Test clean”.
· Halfway House and Drug Recovery Programs.
· School and Business “Drug Free” Programs.
· School Athletic Programs.
· Zero Tolerance Home Testing Programs.
· Vehicle and Equipment operation.
· Insurance Exams.
· Routine Medical Exams and Patient Programs.
· Law Enforcement.
Saliva drug test, hair drug test urine drug test and sweat drug test- each type of drug test has unique advantages. A saliva drug test offers the advantage of a convenient collection procedure that can be directly observed by test administrator. A hair drug test extends the window of detection to three months, giving the longest look-back period of any other drug test method. A drug test that uses urine offers the advantage of solid scientific support for the test method. And because of the short window of detection for marijuana in a saliva drug test kit, positive saliva drug test results for marijuana indicate current intoxication from that drug. The sweat patch drug test system makes it very difficult for clients to substitute or adulterate the test, and offers continuous monitoring of drug use for the one week that the client typically wears the patch.

Hair sample drug testing is a great way to detect whether or not a person has used drugs in the past 90 days. Hair sample drug test is efficient in determining an individual’s drug use history when compared with other drug tests because trace amounts of drug chemicals become trapped inside cortex of each hair. The presence of drugs in hair is based on a simple principle. Drugs that are ingested circulate in a person’s bloodstream that nourishes developing hair follicles. A simple lab test can detect these trace chemicals making for either a positive or negative test result.Hair Follicle Drug Test:
Hair drug screen is the method for detecting drugs in hair using enzyme-immunoassay (EIA). EIA measures the drug molecules in the hair, which were deposited into the hair follicle after the drug was used. The five drug classes mandated by the Federal Government for hair drug testing are: Cocaine (Cocaine & Benzoylecgonine), Marijuana (THC), Opiates (Codeine, Morphine & 6- Monacteyl Morphine), Methamphetamine (Meth, Amphetamine & Ecstasy) and Phencyclidine (PCP).
Before the hair follicle drug test is actually started, the shell of the hair strands is stripped away to eliminate any external contaminants. The sensitivity levels for hair follicle drug test are different for the drug tested. The sensitivity levels for the hair follicle drug test are measured in terms of Pico grams per Milliliter (pg/ml). The cutoff level for Marijuana metabolite class is 1 pg/ml. where as for Opiates class it is 500 pg/ml. The other three classes Cocaine metabolite, Phencyclidine (PCP) and Amphetamines/Methamphetamine MDMA (Ecstasy) have sensible levels at 300 pg/ml.Advantages of Hair Follicle Drug Test:
An illegal drugs substance abuser may abstain from using drugs for 3 days to 2 weeks prior to applying for a job. With traditional drug testing, there is a good chance that the applicants will test negative and then start using again once they are hired in. There is also the chance of adulterating the specimen. Companies that implement hair follicular drug testing can be relieved to know that this is not possible with hair testing. Abstaining or adulterating the specimen cannot beat hair tests.
Employee drug testing programs often incorporate hair follicle drug testing into their plans because of the sheer accuracy of these tests. Likewise, hair follicle drug testing does not involve the embarrassing collection of samples like that of urine or saliva drug tests. In most cases, a few strands of hair are all that is needed to obtain accurate results.

Drug abusers are often the last ones to recognize their own symptoms of abuse, dependence and addiction. Even when they know they have a problem, drug abusers often try to downplay their drug use and conceal their symptoms. The key to recognize this is, knowing the effects of various drugs on the brain and body, and looking for the symptoms and signs of these effects. People with drug problems may hide their drug use and deny its connection to any social, legal, and medical difficulties.
What is Drug Abuse?
It is a social evil that involves the repeated and excessive use of a drug to produce pleasure or escape reality despite its destructive effects. It occurs when a person feels the need to use a drug repeatedly for various reasons. Drug abuse is the improper administration of any chemical substance such that it produces an effect with an undesirable outcome.

Though there are many preventive acts to not to abuse drugs, drug addictives number is increasing year by year. Once a person addicted to drugs, still there is a way to abstain him from abusing drugs. It is “Drug Addiction Treatment”.
There are many reasons why a person would need to attend a drug rehabilitation program. A few of the many reasons are: the inability to control their drinking or drug use, alienating their friends and family, legal problems, severe depression and general unhappiness due to excessive drug or alcohol use.
A drug rehab is a place or program that an individual enters in order to treat a drug or alcohol addiction problem. Through therapy and education, Individual’s are rehabilitated using various treatment methods that enable them to lead a productive and drug free life.
There are many addictive drugs, and drug rehabs for specific drugs can differ. Drug rehab also varies depending on the specific needs of the patient. There are many different types of drug rehab programs available: in patient, outpatient, residential, short-term, and long-term. The initial step of drug or alcohol addiction treatment is drug detoxification.
In general, the more treatment received the greater the results. Drug and alcohol abusers who remain in treatment longer than 3 months typically have greater success than those who receive less treatment. Addicted individuals who undergo medically assisted drug or alcohol detox to minimize the discomfort of withdrawal symptoms but do not receive any further treatment, perform about the same in terms of their drug or alcohol use as those who are never treated at all.
Over the last 25 years, studies have shown that drug rehab treatment is very effective in reducing or eliminating drug and alcohol intake. Researchers also have found that drug abusers who have been through a treatment program are more likely to have greater stability generally in all aspects of life i.e. family, work, accomplishing personal goals etc.
Abuse of Rx and OTC medications is on par or higher than the abuse of illegal drugs such as Ecstasy (8 percent), cocaine/crack (10 percent), methamphetamine (8 percent) and heroin (5 percent).
For some individuals drug addiction treatment does not succeed at eliminating their addiction. This can result from a number of aspects of the drug addiction treatment together with the individual’s own character and personality type.
In addition to the duration of treatment, the type of drug rehab facility is an important factor as well. There are many different treatment modalities: therapeutic communities or residential treatment centers, Twelve Step, Drug Treatment, Sober Living, Drug Counseling, Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Therapy, Narconon, and many more. The importance of correctly Diagnosing the individual and selecting the appropriate type of treatment option should not be underestimated as this may be the difference between success and failure in the recovery process.

Many schools are implementing mandatory drug testing for their students. It is significant to understand that school drug testing doesn’t intend to punish the drug-abused students, but to keep them away from drugs. As high school sports get more and more competitive, there seems to be much inclination to use drugs among students for enhancing their performance. Student’s drug abuse was also influenced by some other reasons like, failure in academics, friend’s manipulation, pressure and dread.
As per the reviews of White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), there are about 15,000 schools in United States, which are implementing mandatory drug testing for their students.Why Mandatory School Drug Testing
Students under the influence of drugs cannot perform well in academics comparing to their drug-free peers. As the school drug testing decreases the illicit usage of drugs, it would be easy to eliminate the obstacles in the academic achievement. The major aspects of mandatory school drug testing include, random drug testing, anti-drug education, searches of lockers and personal belongings and as such.
The drug influence can easily turn to addiction. Students who are under drug influence are more likely to be failures than the drug free students and may even withdraw from the school. As a result, such students are likely to be unemployed and may commit crimes in order to satisfy their needs.Benefits Of Mandatory School Drug Testing
People who implement mandatory school drug testing believe to have the following benefits that they realize through this approach.• Recognize Drug Usage In Athletes: The athletes under the drug influence become energetic. Due to this privileged physical capability they win over their competitors. And this occasional drug abuse develops into an addiction at some point of time. Therefore, by performing drug tests such incidents can be avoided.• Preventive Measure: The positive result of drug testing can discourage and prevent the students from the drug abuse. These testing can help the students understand and realize the consequences of drug abuse.• Detection and Referral: Drug testing may also be used to detect and refer for proper assistance for the students who have drug problems. Some schools use drug testing to provide treatment for drug abuse and ensure that they’re drug free.Reduce School Violence: The behavior of substance-abused students spoils the school environment. School drug testing can also minimize the hostility in the school caused by the drug-abusing students. Therefore schools can become much safer and peaceful and can maintain a positive learning atmosphere.
This information illustrates the necessity of mandatory school drug testing and its benefits.
